Dr. Adel Almomen is a strategy and finance advisor with over 10 years of combined practical and academic experience in financial and strategic advisory. Dr. Almomen has a proven record of accomplishment in delivering results in both professional and academic settings. He holds a PhD in Finance from the University of North Texas and an MBA in Finance from the University of Scranton. Dr. Almomen is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a Financial Risk Manager (FRM) certificates holder.
Dr. Almomen is currently the CEO of an innovative digital financing platform that is focused exclusively on SME’s in Saudi Arabia. As CEO, Dr. Almomen hired senior leadership and initiated a formalized strategic planning process to establish core values and developed the initial financial model for the company, incorporating multiple scenarios that relate to macroeconomic factors and credit availability. Dr. Almomen also fully developed the company’s operating procedures including financial, HR, operational, compensation, among others.
Previously, Dr. Almomen served as a financial consultant for an SAR 400 million health endowment fund, where developed and overlooked the fund’s investment business model, investment strategies and policies, while actively liaising with the Investment Committee and the Board of Directors to ensure alignment. Dr. Almomen also prepared the fund’s financial policies, namely the investment governance charter and finance bylaws.
Prior to that, Dr. Almomen served as a consultant to the Saudi Electricity Company’s project in its project to assess the credit and financial worthiness of its 500+ suppliers. As part of his mandate, Dr. Almomen prepared a comprehensive financial risk assessment model that utilized two different statistical models and accounted for differences in industries and countries; the tool resulted in 30% lower losses stemming from dealing with risky suppliers.
Dr. Almomen led the team responsible for the issuance of the second tranche of the Maalem Financing Company’s sukuk worth SAR 150 Mn by developing a detailed financial model, conducting roadshows and liaising with potential investors. He also led the implementation of SAMA’s Deferred Payment Initiative in the company and calculated its effects on the financial statements, all while presenting to executive management and the board.
Dr. Almomen’s academic experience includes serving as an assistant professor of finance and investment at Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University and Prince Sultan University.
In addition to his professional roles, Dr. Almomen has also held several board memberships throughout his career. He currently serves as audit committee member for Tanmeya Capital and Telad Investments. Dr. Almomen is also the audit committee chair at Tharwat for Financial Securities.
